Allen in the shop

About

I make workwear by hand, one garment at a time, to order.

My grandmother Martha — everyone called her Marty — made her own clothes. Not as a craft and not as a statement, but because that was simply how clothing came to be. Knowing that a lot of her clothes were handmade is what inspired me to start sewing.

What I make now is plain on purpose. Not the most featured chore coat, the most correct one: nothing extra, nothing missing, cut from heavy fabric chosen for how it will look in ten years. It ships raw and undistressed, because character is something a garment earns on your back — not something I can fake before it leaves the shop.

Everything is made in East Nashville, Tennessee. Everything is made after you order it. If something I made fails because of how I built it, I'll fix it.
